COMMUNITY FIRST!

My name is Chris Bauknight, a six year resident of the Borough and I am running for Council this year. We must work together in a proactive and constructive manner to recover from the COVID-19 epidemic. This includes, but is not limited to advocating for financial relief and grants, communicating current status with residents, restarting and expanding downtown business activities, and more.

My commitment to the betterment of the Borough is exemplified by my election to the Borough School District's Board of Education in 2019. I want to take my commitment in making the Borough the best place to raise our children to Council to making the Borough the best place to live for all of our residents!

My career in retail sales has trained me to listen to people to better understand their needs, then offer solutions to them. I have recently transitioned to a career in personal care of people afflicted with mental health issues. Both experiences have allowed me to develop empathy towards others, a valuable trait to bring to council.

I will work with Borough Council to:

  • Aid in recovery from the COVID-19 shutdown by advocating for federal and state aid for the Borough of Washington;

  • Aid in communicating the actions taken by Borough council and the Emergency Manager to residents via social media;

  • Work alongside the BID to restart current businesses as they recover from the COVID 19 shutdown, and bring new businesses and to work towards improving the downtown;

  • Maintain the solid relationship with the Borough Board of Education that I built while serving as a Board Member;

  • Advocate for treatment and recovery resources for people with addictions and their families;

  • Maintain fiscal responsibility, pay down our debt, and seek grants and shared services agreements.

I look forward to serving the citizens of Washington Borough. Thank you for your support on November 3rd!
